Born and raised in Cuba, a Caribbean island with a somewhat magical, eclectic culture, I am a woman of a peculiar background. I graduated from the University of the Arts in Havana with a double major in Acting and Playwriting. My published work is, however, mainly art criticism. Upon my arrival in the United States, I decided to become a teacher: I have taught Creative Writing, Theater, and Spanish to students in all grade levels. In addition to working directly with students in the classroom, I have coached educators in the art of planning/delivering engaging Reading & Writing lessons and have designed, alongside them, innovative ways to effectively integrate the arts in the content areas.

My drive has always been to inspire the people around me to appreciate who they are and what they bring to the table for the benefit of themselves and the world.
